Countable Nouns

Countable nouns are those that refer to something that we can count. We can clearly count the number of units of a countable noun. Countable nouns can be singular or plural. 

Generally common nouns are countable.

Example

Apple, tree, bottles, book, countries, car, student, pen, meal etc.

Example Sentences

I have one apple.

I have two books.


Uncountable Nouns

Uncountable nouns are nouns which cannot be counted. We cannot count uncountable nouns. It is a large solid mass or liquid without clear boundaries.

Generally, uncountable  nouns do not have a plural form. Material and Abstract nouns are uncountable nouns.

 

Example

Water, milk, music, time, space, travel etc.


Example Sentences

Can I have some water?
