Present Simple Tense


The Present Simple Tense is the most essential tense in English and utilization's the base form of the verb. It is used to describe habits, unchanging situations, general facts, and fixed future arrangements.


How would we make the Present Simple Tense ?


1. Question Sentences -

       Do you + main verb

2. Positive/affirmative Sentences

      I + main verb

3. Negative Sentences

     I do not + main verb


Examples


Do you play cricket ?

I play cricket.

I do not play cricket.

Do you take tea ?

I take tea.

I do not take tea.


We include s/es for the third person singular.


Does he play cricket ?

He plays cricket.

He does not play cricket.


Does he take tea ?

He takes tea.

He does not take tea.


For habits


He drink milk at breakfast.

I get up at 5 AM every day.

 


To express a universal truth.


Honey is sweet.

Water freezes at zero degrees.


To express a future fixed action


The train starts at 5 PM.
